Our &#8220;house specialty&#8221; is the technical translation of manuals for machines used in the food industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s why I participate in events attended by the industry giants: confectioners, bakers, ice-cream makers, experienced restaurateurs and hoteliers, and producers of the best technologies and products available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week, I went to Sigep in Rimini, a trade fair with over 1,000 exhibitors and 200,000 visitors, of which approximately 20% had come from overseas. I thought I might feel like a fish out of water surrounded by expert chefs, but I was pleasantly surprised. I also met many fans of good food, groups of students, and coffee lovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A trade fair that I&#8217;d imagined would be exclusively aimed at food industry technicians instead also attracts everyday housewives who delight in home baking, along with groups of noisy students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The energy passing between internationally renowned chefs, the general public, students, and technology producers for professionals was palpable throughout the event.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.athena-parthenos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.athena-parthenos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/1-300x141.jpg\" alt=\"1\" class=\"wp-image-120\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>I reflected later on this &#8220;simmering&#8221; trend that has long been boasted by television shows such as &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/masterchef.sky.it\/\" rel=\"noopener\">MasterChef Italia<\/a>,&#8221; &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ilpiugrandepasticcere.rai.it\/dl\/portali\/site\/page\/Page-09af9df8-b98a-416b-8888-2c1c87015969.html\" rel=\"noopener\">Il pi\u00f9 grande pasticciere<\/a>,&#8221;&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.it\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=2&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0ahUKEwj434zo-9bKAhVBdg8KHbCdBeYQFggiMAE&amp;url=http:\/\/www.mondofox.it\/cucine-da-incubo\/&amp;usg=AFQjCNH-LbRXESbybb3JcGBbU86KLsAyJQ&amp;sig2=\" rel=\"noopener\">Cucine da incubo<\/a>,&#8221; and many others broadcast all over the world. Think &#8220;MasterChef,&#8221; &#8220;The Great British Bake Off,&#8221; and &#8220;Ramsay&#8217;s Kitchen Nightmares,&#8221; to name just a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are witnessing a great revolution\u2014the awareness of good food and quality products is opening the public&#8217;s eyes to science and the art of cooking, giving a new impetus to the food industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This explains the turnout of &#8220;laymen&#8221; at a specialist trade fair, as well as the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.sigep.it\/media-room\/press-releases?ext_url=\/base\/press_area\/news_dettaglio.asp&amp;codice=6883&amp;Tipo=C&amp;Pagina=\" rel=\"noopener\">8% increase in visitors compared to 2015<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We at Athena are, of course, delighted that our customers are seeing a surge in popularity at a time when baking is now the &#8220;fashion&#8221; and the great Italian culinary art is enjoying an even greater dialogue with the rest of the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m not a professional in the food sector\u2014I&#8217;m someone who enjoys food, sure, but that doesn&#8217;t make me an expert.
